Prayer
Blessed are You, Oh Harvest of my Heart, never let me lose sight of the importance of a beautiful sunrise; or watching my children or grandchildren sleep or smell the rain. It is often the little things that really matter in life.

Open my heart and mind to the small steps and little victories along my path for these have the greater meaning in life.

I give thanks to you, Divine One who are so Light-Hearted, make my heart like yours. May I be a light this day for those who are in darkness and give warmth and light to all.

Amen —Jo Ann Mast

Color:  Blue

Prayer
Life-Giver, Compassionate Companion, over and over you teach us about the process of inner growth: to have patience with all things but chiefly have patience with ourselves. Regardless of how much patience we have, we would prefer never to use it.

You advise us that patience cannot not be acquired overnight. It is just like building up a muscle. Everyday we need to work on it.

You encourage us to not lose courage but to instantly set about to transform our impatience— everyday begin the task anew.

Life-Giver, support and guide us in our daily practice of patience. Open our hearts to understand that patience makes lighter what sorrow cannot heal. Patience is the art of caring slowly.

We are grateful.

Color:  Yellow

Prayer
From out of the depths of darker places; Up from the mud of past death and decay; Surpassing all that would consume our tender shoots of hopeful possibility — We journey beyond the cold past toward a golden light of new life.  With each motion forward, we come closer to our own blossoming future.

And so, for Spirit that offers us energy to keep going; for Spirit that leads us beyond old regrets with surprising strength; for Spirit that guides us along better paths; for Spirit that empowers indescribable beauty in unsuspecting places – we give thanks, beyond even our words.

To this time, Spirit brings only what we already have the potential to become, moving us toward a radiant light of new day, until, finally, we too blossom with a golden brilliance, offering Spirit for a world in such great need. Amen. —Warren Lynn

January-February-March
Focus:   Fortitude

Picture by The Rev. Warren Lynn

Quote: “Where true fortitude dwells, loyalty, bounty, friendship and fidelity may be found.”  —John Gay

Picture/symbol:  Mountain

Color:  Green

Prayer

We call upon the Gentle creator of the earth, our planet home with its powerful depths, and abundance of life – teach us, show us the faithfulness of the mountains.

Mountains that are looked at have a particular grace, some rounded and steadfast, others a wildness of spirit, still others the sharp face of fortitude.
A few beckon with deceptive calm, luring the unwary with their raw beauty, heads buried in clouds.
Mountains that are looked at grow in strength and magnificence. Mountains that are looked at look back with authority and the promise of tomorrow.

We invite all who have lived on this earth, our ancestors and our friends, who dreamed the best for future generations upon whose lives our lives are built on. We are filled with gratitudeto them for the preservation and gifts of the mountains.  —Jo Ann Mast
