GHR 2014 Q1: Unity/ Consensus

I am very happy to introduce our theme for 2014—Unity. In preparing to send this information out, I started to think of the impending Olympic games. The flame seems like a wonderful visual for Unity and perhaps when we see the Olympic flame we will each think of Global Healing.  I was thrilled to find a quote by Dr. King about consensus and it feels very fitting considering we just celebrated his birthday. Thank you to Veriditas Master Teacher, Jo Ann Mast, for helping me create this quarter’s materials. Thank you for using these materials as a community!

Like the labyrinth, consensus is a journey –preparing individuals to make a decision that requires identifying issues, clarifying and questioning to create an understanding of the issues.

Doesn’t this sound like a journey into the labyrinth? Walking to seek clarity, release anger, listening to all the possibilities? We honor what comes up.

Consensus is a process where people think and talk together until they find a solution to move forward. Following a community labyrinth journey, we often come together, witnessing and sharing with one another that leads to a greater depth of understanding.

We Are One

“Creator of All, we join our minds and heart with people of this earth. We recognize the deep bond that we have with each created being. We rejoice in your sacred presence among us and with us.

Divine Oneness, we celebrate the goodness, the beauty, the talents, and the spirituality of all these brothers and sisters. We stand in solidarity with all those who suffer in any way.

Rekindle our love, revitalize our compassion, and renew our awareness of the unity we share with all beings.”               – Excerpts from “Out of the Ordinary” by Joyce Rupp-

Ideas for benefiting organization:  An organization that promotes nonviolence such as The Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change (www.thekingcenter.org)

Ideas for ambiance around the labyrinth: Candles—Perhaps many candles in sand within a pot or bucket.
