GHR 2018 Q2: Light/See the Light in Others

Dear Facilitators,

Spring is on its way in the Northern Hemisphere. The days are becoming longer, we are having more light. Yay! Our focus for this quarter is “To See the Light in Others.”

We all know those people who light up a room just by entering it. It’s easy to see their light. But, sometimes it isn’t so easy. Especially if we have to search through differences, hurts and misunderstandings in order to see a spark. If we just remember, there is always a light.

I think it is very powerful to know that someone “Sees” you, “Sees” your light. When this happens, it can (pun intended) BRIGHTEN your day! So, let’s look for the light in others and brighten our corners of the world just a bit.

Peace & Healing,

Ellen Bintz Meuch

2018 Theme: Light

To love beauty is to see light. —Victor Hugo

April-May-June

Focus: See the Light in Others

Quote: See the light in others and treat them as if that’s all you see. —Wayne Dyer

Picture/Symbol: The rising sun

Prayer/Meditation:
If there is breath in a being, there is also a light.
May we remember this and see it, even if
Life has dwindled the other’s light to a spark or
Flamed it to a warm fire that shines bright.
Either way, look for it in the other. Find it.
We all need to hear, “I see your light.”
Breath these words on their eternal embers.
For in those words are the witness of the
Hope, Love, and Beauty of the connection of life.

Ideas for benefiting organization: Chicago Lights Tutoring, Fourth Presbyterian Church, Chicago, Illinois https://www.chicagolights.org/about-us/.
This organization tutors disadvantaged youth in Chicago. Our own Veriditas facilitator, Janice Lewis, is doing great work to introduce Peace practices via the labyrinth to the children.

Ideas for ambiance: Candles! Or, flashlights if you can dim the lights for your walk. Perhaps some kind of light for each person to carry with them as they walk the labyrinth.

Music: Here is some beautiful piano music by Soothing Relaxation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCOF9LN_Zxs
