Fire has such duality, not unlike water. It can be life saving when we are needing warmth but it can also destroy us when it is out of control. As our quote this month says, “A small match lights a big fire.” While that can suggest that one person can make great change I also see it as “Watch out!”
It’s a big time for mother earth; eclipses, Earth Day, World Labyrinth Day and I’m sure there are more events in store. We know the earth needs our help right now. We haven’t been so kind to it. And yet, it provides so much beauty and awe.
Impact! is a podcast that creates change WITH our listeners, using the power of prayer and intention to bring about positive change in our world. Each week, we explore one aspect of what it means to pray, offer healing, or send intention out into the world, and by so doing, to actually have an impact. We also get practical, examining a wide range of news stories from around the world that pull at our heart-strings, offering very specific suggestions for prayer and intention sending. For people of any faith tradition or none, we welcome anyone who wants to play their part in creating peace, harmony and healing in the world.

As 2024 begins, we are dealing with global wars, environmental problems, and lots of division among communities everywhere. It would be wonderful if we all thought like Roana Jones who said, “When I look at our planet I don’t see any borders. So I see you as Citizen of Earth just like me, this is who we truly are.”
It made sense for our theme to be OUR PLANET—everyone’s planet. And remember, “There are no passengers on Spaceship Earth. We are all crew.” says Marshall McLuhan. What kind of impact do you want to make on Mother earth? L.M. Wilde said, “When we honor the earth, we honor ourselves.” And I would like to add that we honor each other, too.
This year we will start by honoring our WATER. Quarter two will be EARTH followed by FIRE and then AIR. Remember, “Thousands have lived without love, not one without water.” — W. H. Auden
When I first planned the quarter foci for this year, this quarter was called “return”. But I realized, after looking more into the concept of journey, that we don’t always return. Sometimes the journey brings us to a different place or maybe even a different self.
