GHR 2024 Q1: Our Planet/ Water

As 2024 begins, we are dealing with global wars, environmental problems, and lots of division among communities everywhere. It would be wonderful if we all thought like Roana Jones who said, “When I look at our planet I don’t see any borders. So I see you as Citizen of Earth just like me, this is who we truly are.”
It made sense for our theme to be OUR PLANET—everyone’s planet. And remember, “There are no passengers on Spaceship Earth. We are all crew.” says Marshall McLuhan. What kind of impact do you want to make on Mother earth? L.M. Wilde said, “When we honor the earth, we honor ourselves.” And I would like to add that we honor each other, too.

This year we will start by honoring our WATER. Quarter two will be EARTH followed by FIRE and then AIR. Remember, “Thousands have lived without love, not one without water.” — W. H. Auden

GHR 2023 Q4: Journey/Reflect

When I first planned the quarter foci for this year, this quarter was called “return”. But I realized, after looking more into the concept of journey, that we don’t always return. Sometimes the journey brings us to a different place or maybe even a different self.

GHR 2023 Q3: Journey/Arrive

Do we know when we arrive? How can we be sure? Do we know when we arrive? How can we be sure? Maybe we can’t be sure. As Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “To finish the moment, to find the journey’s end in every step of the road, to live the greatest number of good hours, is wisdom.” So many quotes I found talked about enjoying the journey, stopping and “smelling the roses”. They stress that the arrival doesn’t matter. Well, don’t tell a pregnant mother the arrival doesn’t matter.

World Labyrinth Day 2024, May 4th

World Labyrinth Day celebrates the wonderful people who make up the labyrinth community and introduces the labyrinth to others as a tool for self, community, and global healing. We intend to create a wave of peace around the globe.

Don’t Throw out the Thoughts and Prayers

We’ve all seen the memes following mass shooting tragedies such as Uvalde and Buffalo on social media saying, “Enough with the thoughts and prayers. We need action!” I TOTALLY agree we need MORE than thoughts and prayers to make positive change against gun violence. There are three reasons I want “Thoughts and prayers” to stay as a spoke on the wheel of change of gun violence.
