GHR 2019 Q4: Intention/Amplify

The final quarter of 2019 brings our model together! As we have talked about, We must first calm ourselves and create coherent energy within before we can send out healing on our own or in a group. Next, when we make connections and create a circle or community we join our energy together. Then, when we come together with a unified intention, our energy is exponentially increased. An example of this in science is when three speakers are pointed toward each other. Three times the sound is not what happens—NINE times the sound is created! So, together we are MORE! And, we CAN make a difference in this hurting and confusing world.

I hope you will see the potential in this model and try it with your labyrinth in your community. I am happy to assist in any way I can be of service to you.

Peace, Ellen

Together We Are More
We have come together with a healing intention.
May each step of each walk amplify the energy we send into world.
May each turn fold into another’s turn sending spirals of love to the heavens.
May each pause be held by another within the space of time.
May the love we radiate ripple out to where there is a void and fill it.
As we walk together, we become more than our sum.
We have amplified our potential.
Our Healing is infinite.

Ideas for benefiting organization: When you plan your walk, you will probably have an intention that also is affiliated with an organization. Please donate to those organizations.

Ideas for ambiance: There aren’t extra items needed for a walk with an intention to heal a community, world, or emergency. But anything you find helpful could be added. The most important tool is to have the people walking look at each other, not down, to reinforce the connection of their circle and send the healing energy out into the world. It might be uncomfortable for some but it becomes very meaningful for many.

GHR 2019 Q3: Intention/Connection

In the first quarter of 2019 we paid attention and then we focused. Now, if we have done what we need for ourselves it is time to join together and make connections. If our individual energy is harmonious we will be stronger in our circles. This focus has a double meaning. We need to see that we are all connected-as science is proving. We also have to be intentional to make connections with others to support, heal and create loving spaces, Sacred spaces. We need this now more than ever.

Blessings and gratitude for all you do to make this world a better place.

Looking into the eyes of another, may I be open to, and affirm, their true self.

As others look to me, may I have the courage to ask for what I need.

As our mutual friendship develops, may we trust, forgive and help heal each other so the energy of our circle ripples into the world.

A printable version of this prayer is available here.

Ideas for benefiting organization: Here are seven organizations that are helping immigrant families:

Ideas for ambiance: Everyone carries a stone with a word that is important to them written on it. As a person passes another, they trade stones. At the end you can process about what stones they received, what it meant to them and what they ended up with. Hopefully a feeling of connection in the circle will develop and each person will feel supported and heard.

GHR 2019 Q2: Intention/Focus

Dear Facilitators,
As promised, our focus for the second quarter of 2019 is “FOCUS”! After paying “Attention” last quarter now it is time to concentrate that attention and focus on what each of us needs to align our energy, spirit and soul. Perhaps clarity will help you find a path that takes you to a better place so you can become a stronger healer and presence in the world.

As you guide labyrinth participants, it would be lovely to give them the permission, suggestion, ideas that when they make their own energy more peaceful and coherent they do, in fact, impact the world in a positive way. We can all use reminding that we make a difference!

Peace and Healing on your labyrinth journeys!

A Prayer for Focus on the Labyrinth

As I enter the labyrinth I am here now.
I am mindful and in the moment. I release that which does not serve me.

As I stand in the center of the labyrinth, I realize the distractions that I feel are outside of me. The center is a place within. I put my thoughts aside for the present moment. I am willing to receive what Spirit wants me to hear.

As I walk out of the labyrinth, I feel peace and commitment to stay focused in my journey that will continue after I leave the labyrinth.

As I leave the Sacred space of the labyrinth and cross the threshold back into the world, I feel gratitude for this moment.

Ideas for benefiting organization: Is there a nonprofit organization in your community that you feel helps people find their center and their focus, a calm place for folks to find peace? Perhaps an arboretum, retreat center or park?

Ideas for ambiance: Let participants write their focus on a rock or piece of paper and carry it with them. You could even have rocks with words like “release”, “gratitude”, “trust”, “clarity” as choices. Provide lots of journaling ideas after the walk. The meditation is available as a PDF to write and give to participants.

Music: Here is a three-hour track of music developed to help you concentrate. Makes figuring out a soundtrack for an entire event easy!

GHR 2019 Q1: Intention/Attention

The theme for GHR 2019 is Intention. The study of the energy of intention is fascinating—the science, the possibilities and how to maximize it for healing. Using this science, I have created a three-step process that dovetails beautifully with the use of the labyrinth to create healing for ourselves, our communities and the world.

It’s often said, “The road to hell is paved with good intentions.” Right? Well, perhaps we can look at intention a little differently. Not as what we intend to DO but how we intend to BE— how we “set our course” each day. Science is finding that our intention is an actual energy we emit and communicate to others. Think of the light we see from a star. It may be thousands of years old, but the light still goes out into the universe and we see it. It hasn’t disappeared. So, goes our energy we put out into the world.

GHR Q1: Attention
The first quarter of 2019 we will begin our process for healing with intention by paying Attention. The quote I used for this quarter from Jonathon Lockwood Huie feels especially appropriate today, “I hold my course with focused attention and relentless commitment, as I weather the storms of life.” It is -27 here in Chicago and I know many of you in the Northern Hemisphere are suffering from sub normal temperatures today, too (and if you are somewhere warm and sunny, well…lucky you!) As Wayne Dyer says, “Our intention creates our reality.”

This might be a nice time to pay attention to what you are putting out in the world. Is it representing who you want to be? Take gentle care of yourself and find out why it doesn’t align, if that is the case. Or, celebrate your awesomeness if you are rockin’ it!
In the materials I have used The Rev. Warren Lynn’s meditation again because it is perfect for what we are beginning to do this year: Center, Connect, Send Forth Healing. And, I chose the Statue of Liberty as the symbol because she calls our attention to remember kindness, welcome and healing through all weather and storms.
As you lead walks this quarter it might be nice to ask participants to pay attention to a certain aspect of the walk (be creative!), what they are feeling (Balanced? Anxious? Peaceful? Connected?)

GHR Q2, 3 and 4
The second quarter focus will be “Focus” (not a typo 😉), the third quarter will be “Connection” and the fourth quarter will be “Amplification.” Throughout the year we will learn more about this three-step process I have created for healing.
In April I will be in Hiawatha, Iowa leading a workshop and in June I will be with the Labyrinth Summer School, too. Hope you can join us. Let me know if you would like more information. Would love to hear your thoughts and ideas.

With Hope and Healing, Ellen Bintz Meuch

commitment, as I weather the storms of life.” —Jonathan Lockwood Huie

Picture/symbol: The Statue of Liberty is a vision of strength through all storms and calls our attention to remember kindness, welcome and healing.

Before we can create an intention, we first pay attention to where we are in life. Can we execute an intention if our energy isn’t centered and strong? I am repeating Warren Lynn’s two step prayer so we can pay attention to how we each feel as we enter the labyrinth and then pay attention to how we can help others as we exit.

Walking into the labyrinth….
Walk into Lightness
The peace of All Peace be mine on this path.
Let all tumult of life’s storms within me cease.
May the weight of heavy burdens release;
The diminishing shackles upon me drop free from my soul
May True Light illuminate the habitations of my dark shadows, setting me free from all forms of suffering.

Walking out of the labyrinth…
Send Forth Healing
Envisioning what Light, Peace and Love is needed in the world beyond me,
I send empowering energy outward, beyond myself,
Into the shadows, storms and suffering all around.
By my actions, relationships and ways of being
I will participate in the greater community of healing in this world.
—The Rev. Warren Lynn

Ideas for benefiting organization‎: Veriditas! Let’s support the organization that supported us.

Ideas for ambiance around the labyrinth: Have journaling paper so walkers can write their intentions. Or, create a basket of stones that can have intentions written on them and walkers can hold them as they walk. Ask walkers to pay attention to their heart messages.

Music: I found this beautiful music for focus ( But you could use any music that you find relaxing and centering.

GHR 2018 Q2: Light/See the Light in Others

Dear Facilitators,

Spring is on its way in the Northern Hemisphere. The days are becoming longer, we are having more light. Yay! Our focus for this quarter is “To See the Light in Others.”

We all know those people who light up a room just by entering it. It’s easy to see their light. But, sometimes it isn’t so easy. Especially if we have to search through differences, hurts and misunderstandings in order to see a spark. If we just remember, there is always a light.

I think it is very powerful to know that someone “Sees” you, “Sees” your light. When this happens, it can (pun intended) BRIGHTEN your day! So, let’s look for the light in others and brighten our corners of the world just a bit.

Peace & Healing,

Ellen Bintz Meuch

Picture/Symbol: The rising sun

If there is breath in a being, there is also a light.
May we remember this and see it, even if
Life has dwindled the other’s light to a spark or
Flamed it to a warm fire that shines bright.
Either way, look for it in the other. Find it.
We all need to hear, “I see your light.”
Breath these words on their eternal embers.
For in those words are the witness of the
Hope, Love, and Beauty of the connection of life.

Ideas for benefiting organization: Chicago Lights Tutoring, Fourth Presbyterian Church, Chicago, Illinois
This organization tutors disadvantaged youth in Chicago. Our own Veriditas facilitator, Janice Lewis, is doing great work to introduce Peace practices via the labyrinth to the children.

Ideas for ambiance: Candles! Or, flashlights if you can dim the lights for your walk. Perhaps some kind of light for each person to carry with them as they walk the labyrinth.
