GHR Nepal & World Labyrinth Day

nepalWe would like to initiate the Global Healing Response for the victims, survivors and land of Nepal after the devastating earthquake on April 28, 2015.
My thought is that many of us will be walking on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. for World Labyrinth Day. If possible, perhaps we could integrate the GHR materials into our walks.
The Rev. Warren Lynn has written a wonderful prayer that can be used to unify our energies. Also, we can use the materials for the GHR 2015 Q2. If you remember the theme is Restoration and the focus for this quarter is Renewal. Click below for a link to a printable copy of the prayer along with the Q2 materials for your convenience.
Please respond to me if you plan to have a GHR Nepal walk. I will collect the details and post it on this website to keep you updated. Or, post your walk as a comment at the end of this post.
I realize there is so much going on in the world right now (I am in the US and the violence in Baltimore is what first comes to my mind). Broadening the Healing circle beyond Nepal is perfectly acceptable and encouraged!!!
Thank you for all you do to make this world a better place. I am honored to be in this community of healers. If anyone can pass this information on to The Labyrinth Society, or any other organization that might be interested, please feel free to do so. As always, don’t hesitate to contact me with questions, comments or ideas.

Labyrinth Prayer for Global Relief
to Nepal Earthquake Victims
April, 2015 by Warren Lynn
Amidst pain and suffering and loss and injustice beyond our words and feelings,
we bring ourselves into the intimate presence of holiness —
to ask and ar
gue and doubt and cry.
And when all is said, and all is thought,
and exhaustion replaces the raw energy of our grief…
…finally we let our quiet breathing replace what keeps us from
letting Śānti, Shalom, Salaam, Peace have its way with us.
Indeed, now, breathing in Spirit feeds our spirit;
breathing out Spirit cleanses our souls.
Breathing in feeds — breathing out cleanses.
Br
eathing in — breathing out.
True inspiration!
In this space, we find strength in our breathing to abide in each new step;
one after the other.
In this space, in our breathing and in our walking,
we experience the intimate presence of holy sustenance along the way
towar
d a more-focused compassion.
Slowly, we begin to seek less after answers about why disasters happen.
More and more, we begin to ask, “how can we help?”
“What creative solution can come from our gifts?”
“Who ar
e we, who am I, to be used for healing,
reconciliation, new wholeness, generous comfort…
…for those in places like Nepal wherein lives have been
undone by mysteries of the ear
th’s ways.
So, let us listen for inspiration in the deepest places of our living.
Let us acquaint ourselves with sacred possibilities within our own lives.
Let us affirm and confirm our ability to bring a new light of relief and recovery
into the presently darkened holes of grief and pain across our world,
and even next door;
…into the life of each of our neighbors,
even those amongst the communities of Nepal.
Amen.

GHR 2013 November: Philippine Typhoon Haiyan Response

shorelineIn response to Typhoon Haiyan that hit the Philippines on November 8 , 2013 we would like to implement the Global Healing Response.

As you might remember from previous Global Healing Responses (Katrina, Myanmar, Haiti, Japan, Hurricane Sandy, Sandy Hook), the GHR is an international effort through which countless labyrinths will be made available worldwide for people to walk, as they pray and discern how they might contribute to the emerging recovery solution for the Philippines.

We have chosen Sunday, December 1, 2013 for us to do our walks.  I think many of us might already have been planning walks. But, if that day is not convenient feel free to choose a time that works for you and your community.  Because the pain and struggles and recovery will continue for a while, it might be appropriate to allow more time than just one day for the walks.

Please let me know when you will be having a walk or post your walk on the list serve or as a comment to this blog post so that we can either attend, or be with you in spirit and offer our support. You could also post your walk on the GHR Facebook page.

Below are the documents we have created to simplify and unify this process. (These documents are only meant to help you out. Please feel free to change and adapt them to your style as you see fit.)

If anyone has any other tools to use or has ideas for this event PLEASE contact me!!

I urge you to pass this information on to anyone (or group) who might be interested in participating in the Global Healing Response. We learned during our Hurricane Katrina response that those outside the Veriditas labyrinth community—and even beyond the labyrinth community—wanted to participate.  Hopefully, that will be the case this time, too.

If you collect money during your walks please support a relief agency that you trust.

If you are able to plan a walk PLEASE let me know when and where it will be occurring!  I will help to keep us all current with this information.  Also, if I can help anyone with press information (or any other information) please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Remember, never underestimate the power of the labyrinth AND unified healing energy!

Ideas for ambiance

Clean water in mason jars, green plants symbolizing regrowth. Stones—each inscribed with a word like “strength, love, courage,” etc. Walkers would pick a stone and carry that prayer as they walk the labyrinth.

Music

Master Teacher, Kay Mutert, suggested these lovely songs….
