GHR 2022 Q2: Heart/Open

“I looked in temples, churches, and mosques.
But I found the Divine within my heart.” ― Rumi

April-May-June

Focus: Open your heart

Dear Labyrinth Friends,
We have practiced breathing into our hearts during January, February and March. As we are living through war and chaos, let’s hope the coherence we created in our hearts and our energy helped increase peace around us and others. Each step on the labyrinth helped us find calm.

For this quarter, it is time for us to OPEN our hearts. The Q2 picture shows the struggle we sometimes have in opening our hearts. Often, because of past trauma and pain, it is easier to keep them closed and protected. But as John A Shedd said, “A ship in the harbor is safe. But that is not what ships are made for.” Our hearts are not made to be safe.

Let’s have the courage to open our hearts. We will only have peace in this pained world when we heal each other. And, we can only heal each other with, you guessed it, open hearts.

Please remember that we have an ongoing response for the Ukraine War. The materials and the unified meditation can be found here.

Also, I am privileged to be the World Labyrinth Day coordinator. Please take a moment to visit the WLD website and plan an event with a circle of friends, your community or join a virtual labyrinth walk with friends around the world. All, with an open heart.

You might want to register for The Second Annual Big Connection, the research project with the labyrinth that is planned for WLD and conducted by The Legacy Labyrinth Project, May 7. This year’s research involves working in community. Click here for more information.

When our open hearts come together with a clear intention for Peace and Healing, our energy is amplified exponentially. Our open hearts, collectively, are the hope for this world.

Thank you for all you are doing to bring the labyrinth to the world. Please contact me if you have question, ideas or comments.

With an open heart,
Ellen

Prayer/Meditation:
Creator,
Open our hearts to peace and healing between all people.
Open our hearts to provide and protect all children of the earth.
Open our hearts to respect for the earth and all the gifts of the earth.
Open our hearts to end exclusion, violence, and fear among all.
Thank you for the gifts of this day and every day.

Ideas for benefiting organization: The crisis in Ukraine is on our minds now. Click here for a link to a reputable organization to donate.

Ideas for ambiance: I am open and receptive to______________(fill in the blank).
Have strips of paper with the above written on it and have walkers fill in the blank before they walk. Also, walk with a spring flower that might even be opening.
